Karen Gillerman-Harel: Mind, Body, and Land features photographs from Israel and explores the connections between the land and identity. Ms. Gillerman-Harel reveals the public and private worlds she observes through her camera lens, recording candid fragments of every day life and sharing the intimate glimpses she captures on film with the viewer.  Her photographs, or “lifescapes” as she refers to them, possess a distinct connection with the land, its history and natural beauty, and the people of Israel.  Without becoming overtly political, these richly colored photographs focus on intimacy and hope.

A graduate of the University of London, Ms. Gillerman-Harel has been working in the photographic medium for many years. Her work has been exhibited both in the United States and Israel where she derives much of her inspiration. Recent projects include collaboration on a book with Israeli writer and actor Meital Dohan entitled Women/Life/Love. She lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel.
